Polymechanic EFZ (Federal Certificate of Proficiency)

A wide variety of tasks awaits you as a polymechanic. You produce work pieces, manufacture tools and devices for production, assembly devices, machines or systems and carry out all necessary adjustment, regulation and testing work.

Together with colleagues from other areas, you work on jobs or projects, compile technical documents, build prototypes and perform experiments.

The training period is 4 years and is divided into two phases.

You will spend the first year at  AZO Uster, where you will learn the necessary fundamentals of the profession.

Starting with the second year of your apprenticeship, you switch over to the workshop of the Innovation area of the Belimo Group (Research and Development). There you learn how to build individual parts and smaller-sized series for our development departments, based on drawings, sketches or verbal specifications.

The productive final project (IPA) takes place in the last year of apprenticeship. It is important to us that you are optimally prepared for the final examinations and for the IPA through your practical work in our operations.

What you contribute.

As a polymechanic, you address technical questions and also implement these with manual craftsmanship. Mathematical and geometrical skills play a major role. For this reason, we require Secondary School Level A with good marks in the respective subjects.

The following talents and aptitudes are also important:

  • Practical comprehension, ability to see interrelationships
  • Sense of order
  • Organisational talent
  • Stamina and concentration
  • Sense of service

Who will supervise you.

Our professional trainer for polymechanics is Valon Sylejmani (see photo). Valon is a test mechanic and completed an apprenticeship as a polymechanic at Belimo in 2002. This means he knows the company inside and out and has been passing along his professional expertise to apprentices for many years.

The Head of our Professional Training Department is Rolf Indermaur from the Human Resources Department. Rolf also has many years of experience supervising apprentices and is always available to offer advice and help.

If you already have questions regarding apprenticeships at Belimo or the job profile, you can contact Rolf Indermaur +41 43 843 61 11.
