Energy cost billing — easier than ever before

Belimo's certified thermal energy meters (TEMs) meet the requirements of EN 1434 and have type approval for thermal energy in accordance with the European Measuring Instruments Directive 2014/32/EU (MID). They provide validated data for invoicing purposes, which can be used for direct invoicing.

The TEMs are also available without approval. They reliably measure energy even when there is glycol in the water. They automatically and continuously measure the glycol content in the medium, compensate for it and, in doing so, ensure reliable ultrasonic volumetric flow measurement. This results in precise determination of the thermal energy. Belimo's TEMs are designed to be multi-application devices, i.e. they can be used as heat meters, cooling meters, or as combined heat/cooling meters — installed in either the return or supply line of the system. The application and installation position are configured during commissioning using a smartphone and the Belimo Assistant 2 app.

The Belimo thermal energy meters (TEMs) are certified in accordance with EN 1434/MID and prepared for remote, IoT-based billing. Belimo's patented automatic glycol monitoring and compensation ensure precise measurement, even if the glycol concentration changes.

The TEMs with a Near Field Communication (NFC) interface enable easy commissioning, configuration, and maintenance directly from a smartphone. Belimo Assistant 2 allows the TEM to be configured intuitively and enables the commissioning process to be logged. Key performance indicators (KPIs) that provide transparency regarding the meter's status ensure reliable operation. At the same time, numerous diagnostic parameters indicate to the user how the product interacts with the system during ongoing operation. Rapid failure analysis is made possible, should a service call become necessary.

Modular design for rapid meter replacement

The TEM consists of a sensor module (lower part) with connected temperature sensors, which house the processing unit and measuring system, as well as the logic module (upper part), which connects the TEM to the power supply and provides the bus and NFC communication interfaces.

The sensor module is available as a spare part and, in certain countries, must be replaced periodically in accordance with national regulations. To do this, the logic module can be removed (with all cables remaining connected) and the sensor module easily replaced. The logic module is then reattached. There is no need to reconnect any cables or reintegrate the meter into the system. This results in significant time savings!
