EWC Controls receives the Silver Award in the ACHR News Magazine Dealer Design Awards for its Smart Self-Balancing Bypass Damper - SBD2. Available in round and rectangular dimensions, the SBD2 serves to bypass "only enough" airflow to restore proper static pressure to an HVAC system during zoned operation.

The original SBD was born out of this collaborative process and was quickly recognized for revolutionizing bypass damper technology by winning a 2016 Dealer Design Award. The second-generation SBD2 incorporates NFC (Near Field Communication) to provide contractors with wireless access to the smart actuator with a free Android or iOS Assistant App.
The primary feature of the SBD2 product is its quick and easy setup. Just press a button, and the actuator will learn the ideal system static pressure and apply the appropriate pressure setpoint. With NFC's introduction, the installer can now manually set the desired pressure or tweak the setpoint learned during the automated process. With SBD2, you get easy setup plus complete flexibility in the same product.
HVAC technicians, while using the app, can also see live charts of real-time data, including damper position, static pressure, and desired static pressure. EWC recognized that some contractors might not have a manometer close at hand, but they all have smartphones. The app can act as a "digital" manometer that is always handy. Charts of live data can be saved with personalized name and location details and then emailed directly from a smartphone. The app is invaluable for customer verification or remote recordkeeping and support.
